BotHack: How to fix Dents left on Wood

Working with wood is often a bumpy road, and mishaps are inevitable. One of the most frustrating things that can happen in the course of a project is when a tool is dropped on a piece of carefully prepared stock, leaving an unsightly dent. After the groans and oaths have subsided, it's relatively easy to fix the problem. Place a few drops of clean water in the dent and allow it to soak in for about a minute. Place a clean cotton cloth over the dent and use a household iron, on a medium-high setting, to heat the dent. The steam will cause the crushed wood fibers to swell, bringing the dented area flush to the surrounding material. You may have to repeat the procedure two or three times for a stubborn dent. The steam will raise the woodgrain, so you will need to sand the surface once the dent is gone.
