Yahoo! Instant Search launched
Yahoo! launches Instant Search, a fancy, dynamic search-as-you-type that returns one most relevant result instantaneously, without having to press that pesky Search button.
The good folks at Yahoo! suggest giving it a try with some of these search terms:
- south beach diet (this one gives you three interesting results as you type)
- 701 1st ave sunnyvale (Yahoo!’s address; try your own address too!)
- san francisco giants scores (should be interesting to watch now that Barry’s back)
- time in copenhagen (in case you’re planning a trip)
- katrina (Yahoo! News results are appearing because the hurricane is a top story right now)
- ninjas (do you want real ultimate power? I’m not sure I do…)
- convert 100 rupees to dollars
I also had success with search terms like “Britney” and “weather San Diego,” but was disappointed that nothing came back for “BotHack,” though if no results appear you just go ahead and hit the vanilla “Search the Web” button. Yahoo!’s Instant search is definitely more usable than Google’s similar Suggest, though I wish it made suggestions no matter what you type, like Google Suggest does.
