Google Blog Search

Google Blog Search returns search results only from blog posts:
"Google is a strong believer in the self-publishing phenomenon represented by blogging, and we hope Blog Search will help our users to explore the blogging universe more effectively, and perhaps inspire many to join the revolution themselves. Whether you’re looking for Harry Potter reviews, political commentary, summer salad recipes or anything else, Blog Search enables you to find out what people are saying on any subject of your choice."

Blog search results include posts from Google-owned Blogger blogs as well as blogs created by other services (like MovableType or WordPress.) If your blog pings an update service like Weblogs.com then posts from it should be listed. Search not just for blogs written in English, but in French, Italian, German, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and other languages, too.

Here, try out a search for BotHack. You can see results are available as Atom and RSS feeds. Blog search also supports new search operators, including:

  • inblogtitle:
  • inposttitle:
  • inpostauthor:
  • blogurl:

So if you’re looking for that post about setting up a home web server, this might do the trick.
