AVG Free Anti-Virus

Speaking of viruses, AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition is a great alternative to pay-for virus protection for the home PC.

AVG’s good; it found infected files on a machine already running ClamWin. (Not to say one product is better than the other, though - who knows what ClamWin found that AVG wouldn’t. It’s always a good idea to double or triple-down on virus and spyware protection to be sure.) AVG automatically updates its virus definitions, but it can slow down your computer a bit during scan, so use the scheduler to have it run while you’re away from the keyboard. Windows only.
